1990
Black Isle was founded in Edinburgh in 1990 by John Miers. The Toronto Office was opened the following year to service large North American clients like Boeing, Xerox, Andersen Consulting, CIBC and Bank of Montreal.

1993
The Hong Kong office was established. Companies based in India, Korea and Singapore were quickly added to the group’s growing list of clients and the Asian team grew from strength to strength.

1994
The Australian office was established by Raymond Nelson. This was to deliver consistent service to global clients, and also work with domestic institutions like Telstra, Commonwealth Bank, McKinsey & Company, BHP, Australia Post, Clayton Utz and AMP.

1998
After a short spell in Hong Kong, Tim Richardson established the London office.

1999
Black Isle won the Hong Kong Trainer of the Year award. In 2001, Black Isle worked with the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid team. Although the bid was lost in the final ballot to Beijing, the Olympic committee said it one of the best presented bids ever seen

2002
By 2002 Black Isle had established four strong bases in Sydney, Hong Kong, London and Toronto, with other offices in New York, Shanghai, and Dubai.

2010
All the offices were grouped together under the Black Isle Group global brand. The Thistle had by then become synonymous as the advisor of choice for many of the leading international banks, law firms and professional service firms throughout the world.

2011
Black Isle launched its bespoke Online Portal, which was fully integrated to deliver online content in support of all programs. Every person that Black Isle works with enjoys a personalised learning resource tailored to them.

2015
The Black Isle consultancy team expanded its capacity, so that it now has more skills and experience in business psychology, talent analytics and leadership development. Bringing together this expertise to maximise your leadership potential and effectiveness.
